What is Connect?
What’s it all about?
Connect is the University of Limerick peer mentoring network and we have one very simple aim – to do everything we can to give you the best possible student experience!
Basically, we try and match you up with students on campus who might be able to help.
Who are the Connect team?
Our team consists of student volunteers, people who’ve had personal experience of the highs and lows of college life and can give good suggestions. Like Clubs and Societies, Connect has a committee of students who decide on activities and promote the service. Notice all the posters that have appeared on campus? We put them up!
Our volunteers also come from a variety of backgrounds. We try to match people with similar interests, so rest assured that you’ll find some common ground with our student volunteer. Sport, music, films, fashion, video games, studying; someone in Connect is interested!
How can Connect help me?
- If you’re coming from Dublin we’ll try to find you another student from Dublin to tell you about UL and Limerick City. Or if you’ve had quite enough of all those Dublin people we’ll find you someone from Limerick. Or Galway. Or even Jamaica.
- If you genuflect to your poster of the Kilkenny hurling team every night, we’ll find you someone who has had time to build a small shrine.
- If you are feeling a bit isolated because all your school friends have gone separate ways, we will find you someone to have a coffee with you, take you along to a club or society you might like, meet new people, and do everything we can to make sure you enjoy your time here.
- If you can talk for 4 hours about why Radiohead are the best band in the world and feel like no one else in college understands, we will try to find someone who can talk for 8 hours about why Radiohead are the best band in the world. Then the idea is they might try to put you in touch with more students who are similar or go along to the Live Music society with you. They might even help you form a tribute act?
